Content Writing Tips – Valdosta State University

At VSU, the students, teachers and townspeople are open and friendly. It’s a beautiful, safe campus where students walk to class and professors know you by name. It’s a tight-knit, supportive community. It’s far enough to feel away from home, yet close enough to feel connected. Creative writing can send an important message about the personal connection our students experience here at VSU. Our goal is to exude the energy and spirit of our student body, staff, faculty, alumni, and Valdosta community to prospective students and parents.

What To Do

Energetic, spirited, youthful . . . yet sincere, inclusive, and comfortable – needs to feel REAL

  • Evoke conversation, engagement – never “speak at” your audience, talk with them
  • Encourage others to deliver their “personal connection” stories by utilizing personal quotes and bios from students
  • Short, to-the-point, no long paragraphs; we want text that can be scanned quickly
